“Striving for excellence motivates you; striving for perfection is demoralizing.” – Harriet Braiker
Perfection and excellence are similar but are polarized; perfection is on one end of the spectrum and excellence balancing the teeter-totter far away on the other end. But what happens when you throw a huge metal wrench in the middle called depression?
Depression will suck you into a hole that unbalances both perfection and excellence.
You no longer are striving for a flawless and fault free state. Nor, are you striving to be extraordinary or outstanding. You strive to live.
To breathe one more breath;
To climb out of bed one more time;
To smile one more time;
To put the knife down one more time even though it seems easier.
At the end of the day, what it comes down to is a simple concept; but easier said than done.
Just do the best you can, with what you have.
Just try.
